Sorry I’ve been a bit quiet lately I’ve been struck down by the deadly man-flu virus, which as any man knows is a potential killer and as every woman knows is a trivial waste of time.
I’ve been giving some thought to my social media accounts and whilst I have ‘issues’ with every social media provider I have more issues with Twitter than any of the others. There seems little doubt that since Elon Musk bought Twitter there has been a marked increase in all the darker sides of social media on Twitter. Many artists have chosen to come off the channel completely as their accounts have been flooded with vitriol and abuse.
I don’t suffer from that personally, probably because I’m not female, but I do have issues with Musk himself and in particular his support for Donald Trump who I regard as a highly dangerous and hugely divisive figure.
So I’m going to give Bluesky a try and see how it compares. If, over time, it proves to be a safer and less contentious platform then I’ll drop Twitter completely.
