I’m really sorry to have to announce that I’m going to close Clip Bait.

I set Clip Bait up several years ago to feature indie artists whose music I really like and to help give them a bit of free advertising and promotion. In addition to featuring them on my website and social media pages I also curated a playlist on Spotify called Clip Bait.

There are some immensely talented artists on Clip Bait. None of them are household names, although I suspect one or two might become household names in the future. I have enjoyed listening to their music and the music of literally hundreds of other indie artists but, it is time to face the fact that Clip Bait takes up far too much time and I can no longer give it the attention it rightly deserves.

Every artist knows that getting heard is becoming more and more difficult and the ability to earn an income from music is becoming increasingly more difficult. Clip Bait in itself was never designed propel artists to the next level or provide huge cash sums, it was designed to give a little support to indie artists and show them that their art was appreciated.

However, just contacting artists to see if they would be interested in some free promotion, listening to their music and compiling the playlist and website editorial is hugely time consuming and I simply cannot give it the time it so richly deserves. Rather than do a bad job with Clip Bait I’d rather be honest and close it.

I sincerely thank all those artists who replied to my offer and introduced me to their work, especially those who ended up being featured on Clip Bait. I have loved listening to your music and I will continue to do so but as a fan rather than a playlist curator. Who knows, maybe one day I’ll be able to restart Clip Bait, meanwhile all the very best to all those brilliant indie artists.
