This stunning album was actually released in 1988, which is a very long time ago. It was actually the band’s debut album and I’d argue it is the best debut album ever. The Hothouse Flowers are still gigging and are touring the UK later this year.

People is a stunningly good album. Every track is a real tour-de-force, listen to the confidence oozing from the very first track I’m Sorry where singer Liam Ó Maonlaí makes an error, corrects it and laughs before ploughing on with the song.

I keep coming back to this album because it’s just so good. I must have listened to it thousands of times and it still sounds fresh and alive. I’ve seen Hothouse Flowers live a good number of times and I seriously recommend them.
