Yes, I’m doing it again.
My own album Present Tense is Vinyl Album of the Week for a second week running. Shameless? Possibly. Fair? Absolutely.
The truth is, if you make music you love, and you’ve gone to the trouble of getting it pressed onto vinyl, you’re allowed a little enthusiasm. In fact, I’d say it would be rude not to mention it.
Present Tense means a lot to me. It was the first collection of songs I properly thought of as an album, and while I was thrilled to have it out in the world, there was always one dream sitting slightly higher than the rest: seeing it on vinyl. That, for me, is what albums are meant to be.
I grew up with records. Vinyl always felt like the real thing — something to hold, admire, put on the turntable and properly listen to. So having Present Tense available as a genuine vinyl album still feels a bit special.
And the best bit? You can own it too.
This isn’t some novelty item that sits on a shelf looking pretty. It’s a proper album, beautifully made, sounds great, and is packed with songs I’m incredibly proud of. If you enjoy melodic, heartfelt, thoughtful music, there’s every chance Present Tense will earn a place in your collection.
So, for one more week at least, Present Tense remains my Vinyl Album of the Week.
Go on — treat yourself to a copy. If nothing else, you’ll be helping to keep alive the noble tradition of independent musicians enthusiastically recommending their own records.
And I stand by the recommendation: it’s a very good album.
