It’s a sad fact but we all know someone who has been affected by cancer. Although it’s all around us and it’s easy to forget that cancer attacks real people, your family, your friends, your workmates. And often it’s not until cancer knocks at your door that we take it seriously and want to do something about it. I was just like that until cancer killed the person I loved most in the world.

Christine’s story is all too familiar. She was relatively young, she was very fit and she had everything to live for. And yet within weeks she had suffered the most horrendous pain and suffering and died. That’s how cancer can be.

But we’re getting better and better at fighting it. More people are living longer and living healthy lives after their cancer diagnosis. We are gradually beating this awful disease, but for sufferers like Christine that victory will come too late.

I wrote My Guardian Angel for Christine and a recording of it was played at her funeral. I’ve released it as a single to hopefully bring awareness to blood cancer and to raise money for the Blood Cancer UK charity.

I’ve produced a video that goes with the single. It shows some snapshots of Christine’s life. I want to show Christine as a real person not just another cancer statistic.
