Ed Sheeran has said he will quit music if he loses his copyright trial.
The singer-songwriter is currently being sued for alleged copyright infringement over his song “Thinking Out Loud”.
It is claimed that Sheeran plagiarised elements of Marvin Gaye’s 1973 soul classic “Let’s Get it On” in his 2014 hit. Sheeran has denied the claims.
Personal note: I would have loved to have used a picture of Ed Sheeran but I can’t because there are too many copyright issues. If I ‘borrowed’ a picture from Ed’s website I would get hit with charge of hundreds of pounds by the copyright holder.
Ed might want to reflect on that fact and perhaps see the irony.
Whilst I hate artists bickering over copyright claims I have to say that the two songs are very similar and I’d be amazed if Ed hadn’t been at least influenced by Marvin Gaye’s song.
