Back in the day you would record your music and then get a record made and try and sell that to people. Something tangible that people could own.
Then there were cassette tapes and CDs but the same basic principle applied, sell people a physical product. These days most music is listened to digitally, there’s no physical product involved. We ‘rent’ music from providers such as Spotify and Apple.
There are no gatefold album sleeves (ask your parents, or even your grandparents) just a thumbnail and music exists on your phone not in your record collection.
Which brings me to CD Baby. CD Baby are Digital Music Distributors and I signed up to their platform yesterday. Welcome to the new world order.
